The AKD-M01206-MCEC-0000 is a programmable drive that Kollmorgen supplies within the AKD-PDMM Programmable Drives series. It combines motion control and servo amplification in one enclosure so a machine builder can coordinate multiple axes through a single controller. In an automation cell, the unit translates EtherCAT commands into regulated motor current, allowing position, velocity, and torque loops to close directly at the drive level rather than in a remote PLC.

The power section accepts a single- or three-phase mains connection at 120/240 VAC and supports single-phase and three-phase operation without hardware changes. Under rated conditions, it delivers a continuous output of 12 Arms and can reach a transient peak of 30 Arms for rapid acceleration or disturbance rejection. A front-panel supply terminal draws 24 VDC at 1.25 A to feed the controller logic and I/O. Network traffic moves through a 100BaseT port while drive-to-drive coordination takes place on the EtherCAT motion network, which can be scanned at up to 4 kHz. Thirteen digital inputs, four digital outputs, one analog input, and one analog output are available for local sensors, contactors, or set-point sources, reducing the need for separate interface modules.

An 800 MHz processor executes the embedded motion engine, and its program data resides in 64 MB Flash with an additional 32 kB of nonvolatile memory reserved for parameter retention. Removable storage is provided through an SD card slot so recipes and other files can be loaded locally when needed. Continuous operation is maintained until the high CPU threshold of 120 °C is reached, and shutdown is forced only at the critical limit of 127 °C. The housing is rated IP20, so the drive must be installed inside a cabinet but needs no special gasketing. Thermal, overcurrent, and network diagnostics are handled locally to minimize controller downtime.
