Kollmorgen’s AKD-M00307-MCEC-0000 is a programmable drive within the AKD-PDMM Programmable Drives series. It integrates power conversion, motion control, and network communication in a single housing so that servo axes can be coordinated directly by the drive. In an automation cell, it supplies regulated AC power to motors while executing embedded control code, eliminating separate PLC hardware.

The power section delivers a continuous output of 3 Arms, which is the maximum continuous motor load the drive can handle without overheating. For transient moves, it tolerates up to 9 Arms, giving additional headroom for acceleration or shock loads. Incoming mains may be 240/400/480 VAC. The input is rated for three-phase feeds, so current draw is balanced across conductors. An IP20 housing limits ingress to fingers and settled dust but requires installation in a closed control panel. The unit measures 99 mm wide, 256 mm high, and 185 mm deep, which supports side-by-side mounting on DIN rail or a back plate without excessive cabinet depth.

Control tasks run on an 800 MHz single-core processor supported by 64 MB flash for program and parameter storage. Real-time communication occurs over the integrated EtherCAT port, and the drive supports network cycle updates at 4 kHz, allowing tight position loops for multi-axis machines. The same connector accepts a service supply of 24 VDC at 1.25 A, so logic remains active during mains disconnects. Thermal supervision is internal: the drive warns at a high CPU temperature threshold of 120 °C and executes a controlled shutdown if the critical limit of 127 °C is reached, protecting semiconductor reliability. That arrangement keeps communication and control active when only the service supply is present and helps prevent damage if internal temperature rises too far.
