Product Description:
The AKT-IM-000-000 is an isolation element produced by Kollmorgen for the AKT IO Terminals series. Positioned inside an EtherCAT or similar fieldbus bank, this part occupies a passive slot that electrically separates adjacent functional terminals while preserving bus continuity. It lets machine builders organize terminal groups, defer channel installation, and maintain safety clearances in control enclosures without rewiring the network. Because it carries neither signal-conditioning electronics nor power-switching devices, the module simply reserves physical space and maintains orderly labeling for future expansion.
Bus and signal paths on the module are separated by a dielectric that withstands 500 Veff, so internal high-level lines cannot couple into the low-level sections on the opposite side. Its declared role is a Blank or Base Module Function, meaning the unit occupies a station address without processing I/O data. An enclosure rating of IP 20 limits use to cabinets where finger-safe but unsealed hardware is acceptable. The standard fieldbus ribbon is Looped Through, allowing telegrams to pass unchanged to the next active participant. Within Kollmorgen's hardware taxonomy, the device belongs to the Advanced Kollmorgen Terminal class, ensuring consistent mechanical depth and coding with the rest of the lineup.
Field integration is simplified because the installation position is Variable, so the housing can be installed without affecting clearances. Power distribution ends at this point because the internal power contacts are Interrupted, preventing downstream terminals from energizing until a live module is added. A dedicated mounting interface is omitted, and the rail attachment is None, so the unit relies on the neighboring terminal's fixture for support. No auxiliary plugs or spring clamps are provided, and Kollmorgen notes that any other connection facility is absent.
