The AKT-AT-820-000 is an analog output module manufactured by Kollmorgen for the AKT IO Terminals series, part of the Advanced Kollmorgen Terminal family used in distributed automation. This terminal generates regulated current signals for field devices while sharing backplane power and data through the system’s standard bus interface. By combining several independent outputs in one housing, it saves panel space and simplifies wiring on modern machine lines that use modular, rail-mounted signal conditioning.

This unit offers 8 channels of current output, and each channel supports a signal range of 0–20 mA and can be loaded with impedances below 150 Ω without degradation. Conversion accuracy is supported by a 12-bit digital-to-analog converter, and the resulting resolution of 4095 increments reduces quantization error during fine process adjustments. Output words are transferred to the terminal as 8 × 16-bit data over the internal bus for rapid value updates. For mechanical integration, the housing clips onto a 35 mm DIN rail, and the mounting orientation can be varied to suit enclosure layout. The reference ground for every channel is the 0 V power contact, which helps maintain consistent loop return paths. Electronics power is supplied through the same standard bus that carries data, so separate logic power wiring is not required.

The module has a protection class of IP 20, so it is intended for sheltered cabinets with controlled airflow. The 24 V feed for the output stage is limited to 50 mA (24 V) through the integrated power contacts, while the internal electronics draw only 25 mA from the standard bus. A watchdog circuit resets the outputs to a fail-safe state if no valid command telegram is received within 100 ms. Because the installation position can be changed, multiple analog or digital terminals can be stacked in the same assembly while keeping the layout flexible.
