The ACD4802-S1 is a SuperDrive motion unit built by Kollmorgen automation to provide high-efficiency control in industrial production and processing systems. This controller is designed to operate with a modern AC flux-vector control technique that allows it to carry out improved performance and operation efficiency; it is also programmable and can be adjusted to meet the characteristics of the specific induction motors it is to be used with. The ACD4802-S1 drive should only be used in environments of electrically powered vehicles; it should not be exposed to harsh environmental conditions during its operation. Unlike conventional drive units, this product can carry out full-four quadrature operation. This unique feature allows it to directly accelerate or decelerate connected motors in both forward and reserve directions without the need for direction contactors.
The ACD4802-S1 is also able to recycle dynamic braking energy down to zero speed. After the proper installation of this unit, operators do not have to worry about sudden machine failure caused by overvoltage, overcurrent, and over-temperature conditions. The drive is also protected against reverse polarity conditions. There is also a neutral start built into this unit; this protective feature prevents vehicle motion on start-up until the driver sees a zero-speed command.
The ACD4802-S1 features a massive heatsink which carries all major heat-generating components; this heatsink plays an important role in dissipating excess heat from the drive housing during operation.
