Product Description:
The SM 56 M-6000-66 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the 6SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. It is intended for positioning and velocity-control tasks in automated machinery. Its permanent-magnet rotor and feedback elements support responsive torque delivery and precise speed regulation in applications that require controlled motion.
This motor reaches a rated speed of 6000 rpm, allowing fast cycle execution on indexing tables and pick-and-place axes. Continuous operation draws 12.8 A from a drive matched to the winding set, while the compatible drive supplies 240 V to the motor. Acceleration reserves are high because the windings can accept a momentary surge of 132 A; that peak current helps overcome inertial loads before the motor settles at rated levels. A torque constant of 0.27 Nm/A establishes the proportional relationship between stator current and shaft torque, allowing control algorithms to calculate command current directly from the desired torque. Phase inductance is 1.6 mH, and phase resistance is 0.2 Ω; both values influence current ripple and thermal dissipation. With 2.8 Nm of continuous torque, the unit handles moderate process loads. Its tachometer output produces 2.7 V per 1000 rpm for speed feedback to compatible legacy controllers.
Static operation is supported by a stall torque of 7.0 Nm, which allows the control loop to resist drift while the rotor is stationary. A back EMF value of 27.9 V/1000 rpm must be considered when selecting an appropriate bus voltage margin. The enclosure is sealed to IP65, protecting the internal components against dust and low-pressure water jets. Mechanical installation uses the IM B5 flange pattern for face mounting to a machine or compatible gearbox. The rotor inertia of 10.2 kg·cm² supports quick speed changes without excessive overshoot. The housing weighs 8.5 kg and has a smooth k6 shaft end without a key, making it suitable for clamp-style couplings.
