Product Description:
The E3.SM.012-2400 is a synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the 6SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. As a closed-loop actuator, it converts electrical energy into tightly regulated shaft motion for positioning tables, gantry axes, and packaging machinery. A two-pole resolver on the rear flange supplies continuous rotor feedback, while rotatable angle connectors simplify cable routing in crowded cabinets. External cooling removes heat from the stator, allowing full torque delivery without requiring a larger frame in industrial automation cells.
The motor has a protection class of IP65, so the housing blocks dust and low-pressure water jets. Under nominal conditions, the rotor reaches 2000 rpm and produces a continuous output of 26 Nm with a line supply of 400 V. The drive electronics must sustain a peak phase current of 14.1 A when the shaft is locked because this stall current corresponds to the rated copper loss at zero speed. The IM B5 face-mounting pattern centers the motor with a pilot bore for accurate alignment with a gearbox or load. A smooth shaft eliminates key-related stress concentrations in backlash-sensitive couplings. An IP64 shaft seal prevents lubricant migration and keeps coolant spray out of the bearing cavity.
When motion is blocked for extended periods, the electromagnetic structure can hold up to 30 Nm of stall torque without thermal runaway. A voltage constant of 123.9 V/1000 rpm limits back EMF during rapid deceleration. The winding set has an inductance of 11.7 mH, allowing current loops to remain stable at moderate pulse-width modulation frequencies. Its resistance of 1.6 ohms establishes baseline I²R losses for thermal modeling. The motor measures 365 mm from the flange to the connector. Its rotatable plugs can be positioned after installation to provide clearance around nearby cable trays.
