Product Description:
The 6SM 57M-3.000 is a brushless synchronous servo motor produced by Kollmorgen within the 6SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. Designed for closed-loop positioning and velocity control, the unit converts drive current into controlled mechanical rotation for conveyors, pick-and-place axes, and packaging machinery. Its compact frame supports installation in automated equipment where available mounting space is limited. The sealed housing also protects internal motor components from contaminants encountered during normal industrial operation.
The motor develops 1.9 kW of continuous output when supplied with a phase current of 4 A. Under these conditions, the shaft turns at 3000 rpm and delivers a nominal torque of 6 Nm, providing a speed-torque profile suitable for medium-inertia loads. A torque constant of 1.85 Nm/A links drive current to generated torque and supports accurate current-loop adjustment. The three-phase winding has 3.9 Ω of resistance and 24 mH of inductance, which help limit ripple current during field-oriented control. Six rotor poles synchronize with the stator excitation to produce smooth rotary motion. The motor provides 8 Nm of standstill torque for torque production at zero speed. Its thermal time constant is 20 minutes, providing a reference period for evaluating repeated operating cycles and changes in winding temperature.
The IP65 enclosure prevents dust from entering the frame and protects the motor against low-pressure water jets. The shaft can accept axial forces up to 180 N, accommodating loads applied along the shaft axis. It also supports radial forces up to 650 N, including transverse loads created by pulleys, belts, or offset couplings. Dynamic response is supported by a rotor inertia of 4.5 kg·cm², which affects the acceleration and deceleration behavior of the connected axis. The complete motor weighs 7.6 kg, allowing its mass to be included when calculating machine support loads and moving-axis requirements.
