6SM 56-S-3000 is a servo motor. It is part of Kollmorgen’s 6SM product line. These motors are designed for use with Servostar servo amplifiers. 6SM motor applications include textile, packaging machinery, machine tools, industrial robots, and similar application with high dynamic requirements. Operators must only use these motors under ambient conditions recommended by Kollmorgen. The recommended ambient temperature range is 5 to 40 degrees Celsius for site elevations up to 1000 meters above mean sea level. The output of the motors derates by 1% per Kelvin for temperatures between 40 and 50 degrees Celsius. The derating increases to 6%/K if the altitude is between 1000 and 2000 meters, 17%/K if the altitude is between 2000 and 3000 meters, 30%/K if the altitude is between 3000 and 4000 meters, and 55%/K if the altitude is between 4000 and 5000 meters.
Direct connection of the motor to the mains supply is not permitted. Only trained and qualified technical personnel should assemble and operate the servo motor. The motor housing must be connected to the protective earth bus bar. Power connections to the motor must never be disconnected when the motor is under power. Personnel must wait for at least five minutes after disconnecting servo amplifier power before touching any live components. The motor surface can reach temperatures of up to 100 degrees Celsius. Allow the motor to cool down before performing any repair or maintenance activity. Rated mains supply for the 6SM 56-S-3000 motor is 400 Volts.
