Kollmorgen produces the 6SM 37VL-6.000-G for its 6SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. This compact permanent-magnet unit is intended for precise velocity and position control in automated pick-and-place modules, packaging axes, and indexing tables where rapid acceleration and repeatability are required. Operating from a three-phase 400/460 V supply, the motor converts the drive’s sinusoidal output into rotary motion that can be coupled directly to timing belts, gearheads, or ball screws. When paired with a matching digital amplifier, the unit transforms commanded currents into proportional torque, providing accurate motion without mechanical transmission losses.
Under nominal conditions, the motor reaches a rated speed of 6000 rpm, producing 1.2 kW of mechanical output while delivering 2 Nm of continuous shaft torque. At this operating point, the stator draws 2.8 A of current, and the copper windings have 3.65 Ω of resistance and an inductance of 8 mH. These values affect servo loop bandwidth and heat generation during operation. For dynamic moves, the drive can command a peak current of 15.2 A for a limited period, giving the axis additional torque headroom without exceeding the insulation class.
