Product Description:
The 6SM 37L-4.000-G synchronous servo motor is built by Kollmorgen as part of the 6SM Synchronous Servo Motors series. The unit is designed for closed-loop positioning and speed control in automated machinery, coupling directly to ball screws, timing belts, or gear stages to move loads accurately along programmed motion profiles. Its permanent-magnet rotor and matched resolver feedback allow the connected drive to command precise acceleration and achieve repeatable settling times across a wide duty cycle.
For continuous operation, the motor delivers 0.5 kW of mechanical output while drawing a nominal phase current of 1.5 A. This rating corresponds to a shaft speed of 4000 rpm, at which the electromagnetic circuit produces 1.2 Nm of torque. Torque increases proportionally with current at 0.96 Nm/A, so the drive regulator can calculate torque from instantaneous current feedback. A winding inductance of 30 mH, together with a resistance of 15.5 Ω, establishes the electrical time constant that must be considered when tuning the current loops. These parameters support a rapid response to command changes while keeping copper losses within the thermal limits for the motor frame.
At standstill, the motor provides 1.5 Nm of torque, and a spring-applied holding brake operating at 24 V DC secures vertical axes when power is removed. The housing has an IP65 protection rating, preventing dust ingress and water-jet penetration up to the front shaft seal. A rotor inertia of 1.0 kgcm² balances dynamic response with load stability, while the bearings permit axial forces of 90 N and radial forces of 270 N at the shaft end. The motor has a thermal time constant of 15 minutes, which indicates how quickly its temperature changes under load. Its maximum permitted flange temperature is 65 °C during continuous operation within the stated ratings.
