The ACO5030D is an indexer drive manufactured by Kollmorgen for the 5000 Indexer Drivers series. It combines trajectory generation with a three-phase inverter, allowing a PLC to issue simple position or velocity references while the drive handles commutation and current regulation. The product is intended for pick-and-place modules, packaging axes, and material-handling equipment where closed-loop motor control must be integrated directly into the machine frame. This integrated design reduces the amount of motion processing required from the connected PLC and supports precise control of automated axes.
Nominal motor phase current is rated at 30 A, with short bursts up to 45 A available to accelerate inertial loads without stalling. Output waveform fidelity is maintained at a maximum carrier frequency of 5000 Hz, providing adequate bandwidth for servo loops that require rapid torque changes. At full load, the power stage provides a conversion efficiency of 96%, which helps limit heat accumulation inside the control cabinet. The inverter section can deliver line-to-line voltages as high as 480 VAC (three-phase), allowing connection to high-torque servomotors without intermediate transformers. Two ±10 V analog outputs, eight digital inputs, and four digital outputs provide signals for feedback, monitoring, and coordinated motion sequences.
The unit supplies up to 18 kVA when powered from a 230 V mains supply and up to 30 kVA when operated from a 400 V service, allowing the same frame to accommodate different regional supply voltages. Internal power losses can reach 1200 W, so the cabinet cooling system must provide sufficient heat removal during sustained operation. Rated operation is maintained at ambient temperatures up to 50 °C and at installation altitudes up to 2000 m without derating. Hardware-latched digital I/O maintains deterministic motion commands during time-sensitive control sequences. The two analog channels can operate auxiliary actuators or monitor process variables without requiring separate signal modules.
