Product Description:
The ACO5000R1 is supplied by Kollmorgen as part of the 5000 Indexer Drivers series. It functions as an indexing controller that creates discrete motion profiles and forwards step-and-direction signals to a connected servo or stepper power stage. Moving trajectory calculations from the plant PLC to the driver helps improve cycle consistency in pick-and-place, assembly, and packaging stations while conserving PLC scan time. This arrangement allows the controller to handle motion sequencing locally while the plant PLC remains available for broader machine-control tasks.
The driver can sustain a continuous output of 1200 W, which is the electrical power available for continuous operation without overheating. For short acceleration periods, it can reach a peak output of 5 kW, providing additional power for rapid starts or temporary load surges. Its coil network has a resistance of 22 Ω, which the matching power supply uses when setting current limits. The housing is only 71 mm wide, allowing multiple units to be installed side by side without consuming unnecessary panel space. Heat generated by the control electronics is removed through a fan-cooled airflow path that keeps internal components within their operating temperature range at full continuous power. Adequate spacing around the housing also prevents neighboring equipment or wiring from restricting the cooling airflow.
The module attaches to the back panel with four M6 screws, providing secure support during machine operation. Installation requires 10 cm of top clearance so exhaust air can leave the housing without obstruction. Electrical energy is routed through an internal PSU connection, eliminating the need for external jumper cables and reducing the amount of wiring inside the enclosure. The mounting surface should remain flat so the housing is not distorted when the screws are tightened. Cable routing should leave the ventilation path open and provide enough space for access to the power connection. These installation practices support proper cooling while allowing the indexer to operate at its stated continuous and peak output levels.
