The ACO5000R indexer driver is supplied by Kollmorgen as part of the 5000 Indexer Drivers series. It functions as the command source for a single motion axis, issuing index lengths and dwell times directly to the servo amplifier so that automated equipment can execute precise, repeatable moves. This model occupies the higher power bracket and is suitable for medium-frame servomotor installations on pick-and-place machines, conveyors, and assembly axes. Its single-axis design allows programmed motion sequences to be coordinated with the connected servo system.
The unit delivers a continuous output of 1200 W, enabling sustained motion sequences without thermal cutback. During rapid acceleration, it can furnish up to 5 kW to the load, providing short bursts of torque for high-inertia starts. Its aluminum housing measures 329 mm high, 71 mm wide, and 298.5 mm deep, allowing it to fit single-row cabinet layouts while providing surface area for convection cooling. The difference between continuous and peak output supports cyclic duty profiles commonly used in indexing applications. The housing depth also leaves room at the rear of a typical control enclosure for routing power and feedback conductors while keeping ventilation paths open.
The internal bus resistor has a resistance of 22 Ω, making it suitable for dissipating returned energy during deceleration. Four mounting bosses accept four M6 screws, allowing rigid attachment to a steel backplate. Adequate airflow must be maintained above the unit, and a top clearance of 100 mm is required to keep the heat sink within its rated operating temperature. This clearance supports natural convection when the driver is installed vertically. The narrow housing allows drives, breakers, and I/O hardware to be installed nearby without requiring additional mounting brackets. Power and feedback conductors should be routed without blocking the upper ventilation area or placing unnecessary strain on the connections.
