Product Description:

The ACO5000A is an indexer drive module produced by Kollmorgen for the 5000 Indexer Drivers series. It combines power conversion and motion sequencing so that servo axes can move through precise position profiles without an external PLC. By accepting single-phase or three-phase mains power and delivering a controlled DC output to companion amplifiers, the drive supplies power for automated pick-and-place tables, packaging stations, and small gantries where compact motion control is required.

The control electronics are powered from an auxiliary rail rated at 24 VDC, and a ±10% margin keeps the logic stable during supply fluctuations. The input stage senses a line frequency of 50/60 Hz and selects taps automatically because its auto-ranging function adapts to the voltage at the mains terminals. When energized from a three-phase supply of up to 480 VAC, the rectifier can deliver a continuous DC-bus current of 36 A to downstream servo amplifiers. Single-phase operation is permitted at voltages as low as 200 VAC with a 15% undervoltage allowance. Parameter changes are made through the front-panel keypad, which communicates over RS485, and a dedicated USB service port supports trace capture. Field wiring accommodates ring lugs sized for 10 mm² conductors.

Dynamic energy from rapid deceleration is absorbed by an internal brake transistor that directs excess bus voltage into a 1000 W dumping circuit. The integrated resistor is rated at 830 Ω, eliminating the need for an external load in most mid-inertia axes. The housing occupies a width of 71 mm on the DIN rail and is secured with four M6 screws, while 100 mm of unobstructed space is required above it for airflow. Short-circuit protection relies on upstream fusing rated no higher than 32 AT. Line protection coordination is enhanced by the drive’s automatic discharge path.
