Product Description:

Kollmorgen is a manufacturer of industrial motion control products and automation systems for modern automation applications.

The 5645-021 is a servo drive that is used for multiple motion control applications. This model is used with an output current of 5 to 8 Amps with a nominal dc bus voltage of 160 V. The system comes with a bipolar chopper drive that is designed for controlling the motor current at 20 kHz chopper frequency. The device is protected from exposure to excess voltage because of the shunt regulator circuitry of this device. The excess energy is automatically removed once the drive exceeds 200 Volts of DC bus supply. In addition to this, the device also has short circuit protection circuitry that protects the system and lights the POWER FAULT LED in case of a short circuit in the system. There are multiple status indicating LEDs in the system as well that intimate the users about the operating and troubleshooting status.

The 5645-021 is able to regulate the amount of current supply to the motor. It comes with an idle current reduction feature that can reduce the motor winding by 50% at the time when the motor is in dwell periods. This servo drive can also be used to adjust the step size per rotation. The step size can be adjusted at five different levels from a full step to few microseconds. The device also enables mid-range stability control and can curb the instability effects that arise due to the magnetic, electric, and mechanical characteristics of a servo motor. The device is able to damp the mid range oscillations that improves the stability of the system.
