Product Description:

Kollmorgen is an international manufacturer of industrial automation equipment and motion control products.

The 5445-230 is a high-quality drive system produced by the company. This model has been designed for different types of motion control applications. The drive can control motor current at 20 kHz chopper frequency as it is a bipolar chopper drive. This model operates on a 120 VAC or a 230 VAC input. The shut regulator circuitry of this model is able to protect the drive removing energy from the supply DC in the case when there is a DC bus voltage in excess of the defined safe limits. The drive is also provided with a short circuit protection circuitry that ensures that the drive is turned off in the case of a short circuit. The short circuit LED is also turned on automatically to intimate the users.

The 5445-230 is also equipped with a microstep power boost switch that can increase the drive switch current in microstep mode. The rms current stopping level stands at 70%. There is multiple status indicating LEDs in this drive that are provided for operation and troubleshooting information. This model is also equipped with mid-range instability control. The feature is activated at mid-range speeds and eliminates the loss of control and possible motor stalling. This instability is due to the mechanical, electrical, and magnetic characteristics of the motors. The stability control functions by damping the mid range oscillations by delaying or advancing the switching of output transistors. The device is provided with an idle current reduction (ICR) switch that reduces the motor winding levels by 50% when the motor is in dwell periods.
