Product Description:

Kollmorgen is an international automation firm that leads the motion control industry.

The 5445 is a high performance drive that combines the StepperBASIC programmable indexer with a bipolar chopper drive for high quality motion control tasks. This model can be used with a 120 VAC or 230 VAC input. The main motor supply in the model consists of a full wave rectifier into the capacitive input filter. This model is equipped with a shunt regulator circuitry that can protect the drive by removing it in case the DC bus voltage exceeds safe limits. The shunt regulator removes the energy from the supply to protect the drive circuitry from an excessive voltage that can be generated when the motor is being decelerated. The drive is equipped with a short circuit protection feature that turns off the drive and triggers the DISABLE LED in case there is a short circuit in the device.

The 5445 is equipped with an idle current reduction (ICR) feature that can reduce the motor winding current by up to 50% when the motor is in dwell periods. ICR begins automatically after one second has elapsed following the last input step pulse occurs. Users can also adjust the step size which determines the amount of rotation per step. There are five different settings available that can set the range from a complete step to a fraction of a step. The microstrip can be adjusted between ½ to 1/125 micro-steps per step up to 25000 steps/revolutions. This drive also allows mild range instability control and can remove the loss of torque and motor stalling error when the system is operating at mild speeds.
