Product Description:

Kollmorgen is a manufacturer of state of the art motion control equipment and automation products.

The 5240-240 is a high quality drive system that operates on a two-phase connection and has bipolar configuration. This model comes with dedicated I/O along with a user programmable I/O. The dedicated I/O provides many user friendly functions including remote stop, jog control, inputs, limit and home switch inputs, and status outputs. There are five bidirectional ports available with the programable I/O. The indexer is also able to generate information about the pulse and direction. An RS232 serial port is available for programming the indexer. In addition, there is 256 bytes of non-volatile memory available for program storage. This model is equipped with complete short circuit protection. The driver is separated from the indexer via an optical isolation that ensures noise immunity. In addition, it is possible to select the baud rates through three jumpers.

The 5240-240 can be operated in programmed mode and immediate mode. The commands are executed as soon as they are received in the immediate mode. In programmed mode, the commands are stored in the system’s volatile memory. A wide range of motion profiles is available with this model due to its diverse set of commands. The commands consist of both incremental and absolute moves with trapezoidal velocity. The device is used with a 115 VAC line and is provided with isolation from the line via a built-in transformer. An internal power supply is built into the system and generates 5 VDC and 35 VDC for the driver. The programmable I/O available with this model allows the indexer to easily interface with other pieces of equipment.
