Product Description:

Kollmorgen is an international engineering firm that excels in the design and fabrication of modern motion control products.

The 5240-006 is a two-phase drive system that can be used for different motion control applications in the industry. This model has a two-phase bipolar configuration. This model is used for high frequency chopper current control with the help of its MOSFET transistors. If no motion occurs for 0.1 second, the idled current reduction automatically initiates and reduces the output current to 1.25 A. This model incorporates complete short circuit protection. Better noise immunity is ensured with the optical isolation that separates the driver from the indexer. This also prevents ground loops. The indexer also generates pulse and direction information. This model comes with an RS232 serial port and non volatile memory is provided in the system for program storage. Users can adjust the baud rate with the help of three-adjustable jumpers.

The 5240-006 is provided with a dedicated I/O in addition to a user programmable I/O. The dedicated I/O enables inputs, remote stop, go inputs, home switch inputs, status outputs, and jog control inputs. There are five bidirectional ports contained in the programmable I/O. This model comes with a built in transformer for isolation from the line and operates directly off a 115 VAC line. The internal power supplies can generate a 5 VDC and 35 VDC for the driver. It is possible to operate this model in programmed mode or immediate mode. A diverse set of commands is available at the users’ disposal when using this drive. This enables a wide range of motion profiles. Users can also program acceleration/deceleration and maximum velocity parameters.
