Product Description:

Kollmorgen is a manufacturer of high quality automation products for motion control systems that are used for modern control applications.

The 5240 is two phase drive in a bipolar configuration. This model is equipped with MOSFET transistors that enable high frequency chopper current control. This model’s output is rated at 2.5 A per phase at 35 Volts. The indexer is able to generate pulse and direction information. An RS-232 serial port is used to program the indexer. A 256 bytes nonvolatile memory is provided for the program storage. There are three jumpers that can help select the baud rate of the RS232. The 5240 operates directly through a 115 VAC line. There is an inbuilt transformer that provides isolation from the line. The indexer is supplied power through a separate 5 V DC supply. This model can be operated in immediate mode or programmed mode.

The 5240 allows users to program a wide range of user profiles through its diverse range of commands. The command consists of incremental and absolute moves with trapezoidal velocity profiles. The device also comes with a constant velocity command. Looping is possible through the conditional and unconditional jump. The indexer can interface with other pieces of equipment like limit switches and programmable controllers through the programmable I/O. The limit switch allows the use of an absolute mechanical reference point. This model supports both full and half step sizes. The drive dissipates 20 W power at zero speed and 40 watt power at maximum speed. The 5240 should be operated below 1500 m altitude areas. The device should be used in areas where the humidity levels are between 10% and 90%.
