Product Description:
The 27.Z2.F04-1003 is a three-phase motor choke manufactured by KEB for the Z2 Three Phase Motor Chokes series. Placed in the output circuit of a frequency inverter, this passive reactor adds series inductance that limits steep voltage gradients and restricts circulating harmonic currents in connected AC machines. Its laminated core, copper bars, and open-frame construction are sized for cabinet mounting next to breakers and contactors. The choke helps reduce motor insulation stress and conducted electromagnetic noise without adding active electronics to the drive system.
The choke is designed to carry a continuous load of 300 A without magnetic saturation, matching mid-range inverter outputs used on production conveyors and process pumps. Its inductance of 0.041 mH provides reactance that shapes the current at the stated switching frequency of 600 Hz. Core and copper losses rise with carrier frequency; at 1,600 Hz, the documented power loss reaches 852 W, so sufficient cooling must be provided. Line lugs accept 95 mm² conductors, and the connection blocks must be tightened to 40 Nm to maintain low contact resistance. Because the assembly is rated IP00, it does not have touch-safe covers and must be installed inside a protected control cabinet. The cabinet layout should also provide suitable clearance around the open frame for wiring and airflow.
The reactor weighs 45.0 kg, so a rigid backplate is required to support its mass during operation and transport. Its footprint has a frame width of 465 mm and a height of 180 mm, leaving clearance for busbars and ventilation channels. Operation is permitted at site altitudes up to 2000 m, where reduced air density can affect cooling efficiency. A normally closed thermal switch opens when the winding temperature reaches 155 °C. This switch provides a signal that the drive controller can use to trigger a fault before the insulation temperature limit is exceeded.
