The 25.Z2.F04-1003 three-phase motor choke is produced by KEB for the Z2 Three Phase Motor Chokes series. Installed on the output side of a frequency converter, this passive component increases circuit inductance to moderate voltage rise times and reduce stress on motor insulation. It is intended for three-phase networks in industrial automation where high switching frequencies can otherwise create excessive common-mode currents and premature bearing wear. The choke is sized for cabinet installation alongside medium-power drives.
The choke operates at a nominal line voltage of 400 VAC and can continuously carry up to 210 A. Its core and winding set provide an inductance of 0.058 mH, which attenuates voltage rise peaks while allowing normal motor flux buildup. Each phase is routed through a copper bar with a cross-sectional area of 70 mm², minimizing resistive losses. Acceptable carrier frequencies extend from 5 kHz to a maximum of 16 kHz; above that point, iron losses and differential impedance fall outside the intended operating range. The assembly dissipates 430 W under rated excitation, so forced-air cooling is typically provided. Its insulation tolerates momentary excursions up to 550 V. An integrated temperature switch opens a control contact before the windings reach critical temperatures.
The choke remains linear up to an output frequency of 1600 Hz, allowing permanent-magnet or spindle motors to operate far above the mains frequency.
