Product Description:
The 20.Z2.F04-1003 is a three-phase motor choke produced by KEB for the Z2 Three Phase Motor Chokes series. Installed between a converter and an induction motor, the device adds series inductance to smooth the current waveform, limit dv/dt, and mitigate conducted electromagnetic noise in automated machinery. It is intended for cabinet mounting in industrial drive systems where reliable filtering is needed to protect switching components and motor insulation during continuous operation.
The choke is rated for a continuous current of 75 A, which is the maximum line current it can handle without exceeding its thermal limits. Its inductance of 0.123 mH provides impedance at fundamental and switching frequencies, directly influencing current ripple. A winding resistance of 6.1 mΩ introduces a small but measurable voltage drop and power dissipation under load. At the reference frequency, the iron and copper generate 152 W of power loss, so airflow or heat sinking must be provided to keep the core within its temperature class. The open-frame design carries a protection rating of IP00, meaning it requires installation inside a segregated electrical enclosure to prevent accidental contact with live parts.
Line conductors with a cross-sectional area of 25 mm² / AWG 4 connect to M10 terminals and are secured with a bolt clamp tightened to 20 Nm / 177 lb-in. The iron core supports power-electronic switching frequencies up to 800 Hz, allowing the choke to operate with modern inverters. In service, the assembly stands upright on a base plate in the required mounting orientation and weighs 15.0 kg, which must be considered when reinforcing the panel. Operation is permitted at site altitudes up to 2000 m. When the choke is not energized, it can be stored at altitudes up to 3000 m without insulation degradation.
