The 13.S6.K14-2100 is a servo drive module produced by KEB within the S6 Combivert Servo Drives series. It forms the power stage between a three-phase supply and synchronous or asynchronous motors in industrial automation systems, delivering adjustable frequency and torque commands generated by upstream motion controllers. By converting fixed mains power into regulated output, the unit permits precise speed, position, and braking control for packaging machines, material-handling axes, and process equipment.
The drive operates from a 3 x 400 V AC grid at a line frequency of 50/60 Hz ±2 Hz and draws a continuous 17 A at the input. Internally, an IGBT bridge modulates the bus at an 8 kHz switching rate and supplies the motor with a steady 12 A of output current, which corresponds to 5.5 kW of mechanical shaft power and 8.3 kVA of apparent power. Communication to higher-level controllers is provided through EtherCAT or CAN fieldbus ports, while a two-channel multi-encoder interface returns incremental or absolute position data for vector control. The 90 mm × 310 mm × 220 mm housing is intended for cabinet mounting and contains no internal filter, so an external power section filter must be added where conducted emissions limits apply.
For transient events, the S6 power stage can direct up to 34 A of braking current into an external resistor not lower than 25 Ω, enabling controlled deceleration without overheating the inverter. During heavy acceleration, the output section tolerates a short-time overload of 250% (3 s) / 200% (60 s) before falling back to its continuous rating. The electronics are protected by the drive’s IP20 housing and the integrated STO safety function, which removes torque through redundant channels when triggered. Because the enclosure has open top and bottom slots, cabinet airflow must be guided around the unit to maintain thermal headroom.
