Product Description:
The D2.S4.E4A-4102 is a digital servo controller produced by KEB within the S4 Combivert Servo Controllers series. This Combivert unit conditions three-phase power, closes current and speed loops, and relays motion commands so that synchronous or induction motors follow precise trajectories in automated machinery. By modulating the mains waveform and monitoring protective limits, it delivers regulated torque and velocity for demanding motion applications. Its forced-ventilated housing maintains safe internal temperatures during continuous industrial service. The controller is suitable for automated machinery that requires coordinated acceleration, controlled deceleration, and stable operation under changing mechanical loads.
The power section accepts a three-phase supply voltage of 400 V and draws a nominal input current of 18.2 A, so upstream disconnects and cabling must accommodate this continuous load. Its rated output current and stall current are both 16.5 A, allowing the controller to maintain constant torque at standstill without derating. For brief dynamic events, it delivers a peak current of 38 A for 600 ms, giving the axis additional capacity for rapid acceleration before thermal limits apply. Switching and conduction losses produce up to 240 W of heat, which is removed by integrated fans that require adequate clearance inside the control panel. Line conductors with a cross-sectional area of up to 2.5 mm² and a 20 A mains fuse accommodate the controller’s electrical requirements. Climatic class 3K3 supports operation in controlled industrial locations where temperature and humidity remain within the permitted range.
The controller scales motor feedback for a rated speed of 4000 rpm, allowing tight velocity regulation across the intended operating range. Motor leads can extend up to 100 m, supporting actuators positioned at a distance on gantries, conveyors, and other large machines. Installation is permitted at altitudes up to 2000 m without output reduction, provided airflow through the forced-ventilation ducts remains unobstructed. The E-style enclosure has IP20 protection, which prevents accidental finger contact with hazardous internal parts while allowing ventilation through the housing. Proper cable routing helps prevent power conductors from obstructing the cooling path or placing unnecessary strain on the terminals. The enclosure is intended for installation inside a suitable control cabinet that provides the required protection against dust, moisture, and accidental contact.
