The C3.S4.D4A-3E12 servo controller is produced by KEB within the S4 Combivert Servo Controllers series. It converts line power into regulated three-phase output and coordinates motion commands from a PLC, allowing closed-loop speed or position regulation for industrial transport, pick-and-place, and process machinery. Through integrated signal processing, it synchronizes motor current with feedback devices to maintain dynamic response.
The 400 V voltage class sets the supply window and the internal insulation clearances, allowing the unit to connect directly to standard factory mains. Command and status signals travel through the IG-IO interface, enabling fast handshaking with digital controllers. Rotor position is returned by a resolver, which provides high noise immunity in harsh cabinet environments. Thermal protection is handled by an internal sensor that issues an inverter trip when the heat sink rises above 70 °C, helping prevent semiconductor damage. When paired with a matched servo motor, the drive maintains rated flux up to 3000 rpm, providing stable torque delivery throughout the speed range. The aluminum housing follows design code D and supports cabinet airflow across its finned sides.
Installation is permissible up to 2000 m above sea level, where derating of switching devices is not yet required. Ambient humidity may climb to 95% non-condensing, so conformal-coated boards are used to deter moisture-driven leakage. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, which indicates finger-safe openings while relying on the cabinet for additional ingress protection. For integrated motor thermal monitoring, three PTC channels are accepted; cold resistance stays below 400 Ω, reset occurs under 500 Ω, and an over-temperature trip engages once they reach 1650 Ω. Storage is allowed down to -25 °C and up to 70 °C. An operating range from -10 °C to 45 °C allows full current delivery without external heaters or chillers.
