Product Description:
KEB’s C2.S4.D2E-5000 is a servo controller positioned in the S4 Combivert Servo Controllers series. The unit conditions line power, processes feedback, and modulates current to synchronize permanent-magnet or asynchronous servomotors with motion commands in automated machinery. By integrating encoder evaluation and drive logic, it acts as the central closed-loop element between a PLC and the mechanical axis for precise speed, torque, and position control in packaging lines, material-handling stations, and similar equipment. This arrangement also helps the axis respond quickly to changing load conditions during synchronized motion and repeated positioning tasks.
Electrical compatibility starts with the 200 V Class supply category, allowing the controller to connect directly to low-voltage three-phase mains. Its housing meets the IP20 protection rating, so it must be mounted inside a cabinet. The climatic category 3K3 and an operating envelope from -10 °C to 45 °C support use on typical factory floors. Up to 95 % relative humidity is tolerated without condensation, while a control line spacing of 10 cm helps maintain adequate airflow. During shutdown or warehousing, the electronics can be stored between -25 °C and 70 °C without damage to normal operating function.
Feedback handling is tailored for incremental encoders that provide two trace signals plus a zero pulse over an RS 422 differential interface. The input circuitry accepts signal frequencies below <300 kHz, and signals remain reliable along cabling up to 50 m. The drive supplies encoder power on two rails, including +18 V at 100 mA and +5 V at 300 mA, which simplifies wiring for standard sensor heads and allows many feedback devices to be powered directly from the controller. Correct operation is maintained up to 2000 m installation altitude, matching common plant elevations. The encoder interface is built for standard industrial feedback connections, so additional interface boards are not required for typical RS 422 incremental devices.
