Product Description:
The 12.S4.E30-348M is a servo controller produced by KEB and assigned to the S4 Combivert Servo Controllers series. It sits between the mains and a matched servomotor, modulating voltage and current so position, speed, and torque follow external commands with millisecond precision. Within automated machinery, it provides the closed-loop amplification needed for pick-and-place axes, packaging stations, and other motion modules that demand repeatable dynamic performance.
It handles a three-phase supply, drawing 18.2 A under nominal load and converting this energy into an output capacity of 11.4 kVA. The inverter can furnish a continuous phase current of 16.5 A, yet it tolerates transient peaks to 38 A for 600 ms so motors can overcome inertial starts without fault trips. Dissipated switching and conduction losses reach 240 W, so adequate airflow or a heat sink is required. Because the supply is three-phase, DC-link ripple stays low, which helps the current loop respond smoothly during changing load conditions. Two differential analog command inputs are available, and each is sampled with 12-bit signed resolution, giving 4096 discrete reference steps for precise speed or torque control.
The enclosure carries a rating of IP20, so the controller must be installed in a closed electrical cabinet. Power terminals accept 2.5 mm² conductors, and the upstream circuit is secured with a 20 A line fuse. Motor leads can extend to 100 m without additional output filters, supporting distributed axis layouts and allowing the controller to be mounted away from the motor when cabinet space is limited. The device remains functional at altitudes up to 2000 m and in ambient humidity as high as 95% provided condensation is avoided. Locked-rotor current can be sustained indefinitely, and symmetrical loading is maintained across the incoming lines. With a mass of only 3.5 kg, the unit is easy to handle during installation or service.
