Product Description:
The 05.S4.08-R009 is a Combivert servo controller produced by KEB in the S4 Combivert Servo Controllers series. Designed for panel-mounted drive systems, the unit converts DC-bus energy into precisely modulated phase currents so closed-loop servomotors follow speed, torque, or position commands issued by a PLC. By coordinating acceleration and braking profiles, it supports automated packaging, handling, and machine-tool axes that require repeatable motion while keeping cabinet space and wiring simple.
Continuous output is rated at 6.4 A, which is also the permitted stall current when the shaft is locked, ensuring full holding torque without excessive heating. For rapid indexing, the drive supplies a peak current of 14.8 A for 600 ms, and its permissible overload factor reaches 2.3 × Ido, enabling short bursts of high torque before the current limiter intervenes. Thermal loss inside the housing is approximately 75 W, and an onboard PTC monitors the resulting heat with a cold resistance of up to 400 Ω. The controller has an IP20 protection rating, so it must be installed in an enclosed cabinet with forced convection. Power wiring to the input terminals requires conductors with a minimum cross-sectional area of 1.5 mm² to keep copper losses within the intended limits.
The enclosure measures 90 mm wide, 240 mm high, and 160 mm deep. Four mounting slots accept screws through 5 mm holes for rigid fastening. Operation is permitted within the 3K3 climatic category, which accommodates indoor temperatures and noncondensing atmospheres with relative humidity up to 95%. The electronics remain stable at elevations up to 2000 m, allowing use in most plant locations without derating. A shielded motor cable can run up to 50 m from the controller to the servo without violating rise-time limits, while differential encoder and brake leads can follow the same routing corridor.
