The 15.R6.S3E-900A is a line regeneration unit produced by KEB and supplied under the R6 Combivert Line Regen Drives series. In an automation cell, it links the DC bus of multiple inverters back to the plant power line, converting excess braking energy into usable grid power rather than wasting it as heat. This function lowers overall energy consumption and eases panel thermal load in conveyor, hoist, or test-stand applications where frequent deceleration sends energy back onto the DC link.
For compatibility with standard European distribution, the drive is designed for a three-phase supply at 400 V. Under continuous operation, it can return 17 kW of active power to the grid, corresponding to a rated apparent value of 18 kVA, while a temporary peak of 25.5 kW is available for heavier deceleration tasks; the associated maximum apparent power is 27 kVA. DC bus energy is routed through an internal fuse rated at 600 V / 50 A, providing short-circuit isolation without external components. During rapid braking intervals, the unit can conduct up to 48 ADC of regenerative DC current, which keeps the operating point below the semiconductor limit. The aluminum housing measures 208 mm deep and 290 mm high, allowing the module to fit behind shallow enclosure doors alongside other Combivert hardware.
Transient behavior is supported by a continuous bus return of 32 ADC, rising to an overload current of 39 A for 60 s before the electronics enforce an 160 % disconnection threshold to protect semiconductors. The regenerative rated current is 26 A, which fits that overload window and keeps thermal loading within the intended operating range. Panel planning is simplified by the compact 130 mm width and a mass of 5.6 kg, which allow the unit to fit crowded enclosures and reduce load on the mounting surface.
