Product Description:
The 15.R6.S3E-R00A is a regenerative drive module produced by KEB and included in the R6 Combivert Line Regen Drives series. The unit returns excess DC bus energy from variable-frequency inverters to the mains, reducing dependence on braking resistors and limiting heat inside control cabinets. It supports energy-efficient installations where drives frequently decelerate high-inertia loads, including elevators, centrifuges, and servo-positioning axes. Regenerative operation also allows recovered energy to be used elsewhere on the connected power system rather than dissipated as heat.
The device operates on a three-phase supply across a nominal range of 180–528 V AC. It synchronizes with 50/60 Hz supply systems and tolerates frequency variations of ±2 Hz. The continuous AC current is 26 A AC, and the regenerative rated current has the same value. Its DC link accepts 180–680 V and can return up to 32 A. The drive provides 17 kW of rated active output, or 10 kW when connected to a 230 V supply, with corresponding apparent-power ratings of 18 kVA and 10.5 kVA. Peak capability reaches 25.5 kW of active power and 27 kVA of apparent power, while the respective values at 230 V are 15 kW and 15.5 kVA. The module belongs to the 180–550 V voltage class and can process braking energy from multiple inverter axes.
Thermal management relies on a standard heat sink that must remain below 70 °C. Under nominal operating conditions, the electronics dissipate 200 W. The module is Unit Size 15 and uses Housing Size E, providing established dimensions for cabinet mounting. A default configuration is supplied, while field kits add precharging and DC fuses when controlled energization or additional short-circuit protection is needed. Upstream protection is connected through a 50 A UL 248 Class J line fuse. The regenerative design returns energy to the grid without requiring external chopper resistors.
