Product Description:
The 18.R4.S0G-3401 is a regenerative unit manufactured by KEB within the R4 Combivert Regenerative Units series. It connects to a shared DC bus and returns braking energy to the grid instead of dissipating that energy as heat. Input protection is provided by an integrated 50 A input fuse and a 100 A DC-bus fuse, simplifying coordination with upstream breakers. This regenerative function supports energy-efficient operation in conveyors, presses, and servo-driven production cells that experience frequent speed changes and require controlled deceleration. Returning excess energy to the supply also reduces the heat that must be removed from the control cabinet during repeated braking cycles.
The unit can feed back a maximum continuous real power of 39 kW, while its apparent power limit reaches 45 kVA. These ratings reflect the thermal capacity of the power electronics during sustained regeneration. A DC-bus load current of 65 A is permitted before protective limits engage, and transient peaks of up to 72 A accommodate short braking bursts without tripping. The internal DC link supports up to 1000 µF of capacitance, smoothing voltage ripple so downstream inverters receive stable DC power during abrupt torque reversals. Under the CE rating method, the module returns 55 A of DC current. Its regenerative section delivers 27 kW of nominal active power and 31 kVA of nominal apparent power, corresponding to a CE current rating of 45 A.
The housing measures 170 × 340 × 255 mm, fits inside standard enclosures with a depth of 300 mm, and weighs 10 kg. Its compact dimensions help conserve panel space, while the moderate weight supports secure cabinet mounting without an oversized mounting structure. A protection rating of IP20 provides protection against accidental finger contact but does not seal the unit against dust or liquids, so installation inside indoor switchgear is necessary. The unit belongs to the 400 V AC voltage class and connects to compatible factory mains without a transformer. Adequate cabinet clearance must be maintained around the housing to support heat removal and provide access to power connections and protective devices.
