Product Description:
The 10.P1.100-024F is a spring-applied, electrically released brake assembly manufactured by KEB for its P1 Encoders and Brakes series. Designed for installation on a motor with a 190 mm round flange, the unit generates holding torque whenever the control voltage is removed, locking the shaft in place. The brake supports fail-safe stopping in conveyors, hoists, and servo axes where loads must remain stationary during emergencies, routine shutdowns, or tool changes. Its spring-applied design provides braking without continuous electrical power, while energizing the coil releases the shaft for normal operation.
The brake coil operates at 24 VDC, and the applied voltage may vary by +6% / -10% without disrupting release performance. When the armature is fully open, the hub can rotate at speeds up to 10,000 rpm, making the brake suitable for high-speed motor applications. Magnet excitation consumes 50 W, which contributes to the thermal load of the installed system. Once the coil is de-energized, the friction surfaces provide a holding torque of 194 Nm to resist back-driving on medium-frame servo axes. Installation requires an initial air gap of 0.5 mm between the armature and magnet so the brake can engage quickly while limiting friction and wear during release. Reliable operation continues until wear increases the permissible air gap to 1.2 mm.
The design supports a 100% duty cycle and remains thermally stable throughout its continuous operating temperature range of 0 °C to 40 °C. Its IP20 enclosure rating provides protection against accidental finger contact but does not protect the assembly from water, so the brake must be installed in a suitable protected area. Mechanical service life reaches 10,000,000 switching cycles under the stated operating conditions. At elevated temperatures, the brake retains a minimum static torque of 115 Nm, allowing it to continue holding supported loads when thermal conditions reduce friction performance. The permitted temperature limits extend from −40 °C to 120 °C, although continuous operation must remain within the narrower range stated for normal duty.
