The 05.P1.100-1177 is an electromagnetic brake from KEB’s P1 Encoders and Brakes series. Mounted on the motor shaft end, it applies frictional force to prevent unwanted rotation during power loss or emergency stops. This function helps protect vertical or indexing axes in conveyors, pick-and-place gantries, and packaging machinery where controlled stopping is important. It is used wherever a motor must stay stationary after drive power is removed.

This brake uses a nominal supply of 24 VDC, and once released it can transmit holding torque up to 6.1 Nm. A response delay of ≤3 ms reduces lag between the control signal and mechanical engagement, which is useful when deceleration must begin quickly. A 100 % duty cycle allows the coil to remain energized during long production runs without requiring intermittent rest periods.

A maximum operating speed of 10000 rpm supports use on fast motor shafts, and the compact 65 mm round flange helps the brake fit matching housings with minimal added bulk. To maintain consistent torque, the air gap at 20 °C should not exceed 0.5 mm, so wear can be checked against a clear service limit.
