Product Description:
The 03.P1.330-0567 is a power-off safety brake supplied by KEB within the P1 Encoders and Brakes series. It integrates a rotor hub and annular armature into one hub and armature assembly that mounts at the rear of a motor or gearbox. When de-energized, magnetic force clamps the friction faces so the driven shaft cannot rotate, allowing machinery to hold a load in position or stop an axis during an emergency. Applying voltage releases the brake and allows the control system to resume motion.
The brake is intended for dry operation and stays engaged whenever power is absent, providing fail-safe holding during downtime. The initial air gap is set at 0.15 mm, providing the clearance that the armature must cross before torque transmission begins. Wear is limited by the maximum permissible gap of 0.4 mm, which is the service threshold for rotor shim adjustment. The coil is rated for a 100% duty cycle, allowing continuous cycling without thermal saturation. The brake has an IP20 protection rating, making it suitable for enclosed installations where exposure to dust and dripping water is limited. The winding accepts line-voltage variation of +6% / -10%, so brake release remains consistent despite changes in the power supply.
The brake attaches to the rear of the machine frame with a back-mounted pattern, and the external hub slips over the shaft splines to simplify coupling. Positional accuracy is maintained by limiting magnet-to-armature eccentricity to 0.1 mm and restricting shaft-to-magnet offset to 0.05 mm; keeping the components within these limits helps prevent uneven wear and excessive noise. A permanent-magnet field provides the holding force that keeps the rotor locked until the coil is energized. Wiring polarity is fixed, with red as positive and black as negative, to help prevent incorrect electrical connections during installation.
