Product Description:
The 10.M4.C3D-3460 is an AC motor speed controller manufactured by KEB for the M4 Variable Frequency Drives series. Connected between the mains supply and a three-phase induction motor, this unit synthesizes a variable output frequency so conveyors, pumps, or fans can match real-time process demands. Such regulation minimizes inrush currents during start-up, extends mechanical life, and provides precise acceleration or deceleration profiles required in automated production cells.
The drive draws a three-phase input with 6.4 A of line current and converts it into a regulated output of 5.8 A at the motor terminals. These current values correspond to a continuous apparent power rating of 4.0 kVA, which supports mechanical loads up to 2.2 kW of shaft power when the drive is paired with an appropriately sized motor. During rapid load changes it delivers a short-time current of 10.4 A, giving extra torque without exceeding thermal limits. Heat generated by the IGBTs is transferred to the finned cooler, and the design permits a heat-sink surface temperature of 70 °C at full load. Terminal screws require 0.5 Nm to keep connections secure.
The drive includes protective functions and braking support for applications that need controlled stopping and fault shutdown. The drive trips if the phase current rises to 12.7 A, and this overcurrent threshold helps protect connected equipment. An enclosure rating of IP65 allows installation outside a cabinet where dust or water spray is present. Internal losses are limited to 80 W, so most dissipated energy is transferred through the aluminum heat sink. For controlled stopping, the drive supplies 5 A of brake current and accepts external resistors down to 160 Ω, with 270 Ω as a typical value. Cable routing is governed by EMC limits: shielded motor leads may extend 5 m on Class A installations or 50 m on unfiltered runs, helping outgoing pulses remain within compliance.
