The 12.H6.ABB-21B0 is a drive module produced by KEB within the H6 Combivert Multi-Axis Drives series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit supplies regulated three-phase power to synchronous or induction motors in coordinated machine axes. By converting fixed mains energy into variable frequency and amplitude, it provides the speed and torque control required by packaging machines, printing lines, and material-handling equipment. Its design places the power stage, control electronics, encoder interface, and fieldbus port on a single plug-in module, simplifying system integration and allowing rapid expansion of multi-axis systems.
The drive delivers a continuous active power output of 4 kW, while its apparent power capacity reaches 6.2 kVA, providing headroom for reactive magnetizing current. It connects to a three-phase supply at 400 V and draws a rated input current of 9 A under nominal load. During short acceleration periods, the output stage can supply up to 18 A, and an overcurrent trip engages at 21.6 A to protect the semiconductors. The integral heat sink dissipates 58 W, while an additional 26 W is lost within the electronics compartment. A brake output provides 24 VDC at 3.3 A for motor-mounted holding brakes, and the two-channel multi-encoder interface accepts incremental or absolute feedback signals. Motion control follows the CiA 402 profile for standardized state handling.
The power section measures only 50 mm wide, permitting dense stacking in multi-axis racks and reducing the required cabinet footprint. The housing has an IP20 ingress protection rating, so it must be installed in an enclosure with managed airflow. High-speed coordination and diagnostic data travel over the EtherCAT system bus, enabling integration with modern PLCs. Compliance with EN 61800-2 and EN 61800-5-1 supports electrical safety requirements. The controller issues an overtemperature warning when the internal heat sink reaches 80 °C, allowing the control system to respond before excessive thermal stress affects the power electronics.
