The 22.F4.C1R-3440 frequency inverter is manufactured by KEB as part of the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. It serves as a variable-speed controller that converts fixed-frequency mains power into an adjustable three-phase output for induction motors used on conveyors, pumps, mixers, and packaging axes in automated plants. Mounted inside a control cabinet, it responds to PLC commands to synchronize acceleration, steady-state running, and regenerative braking. An integrated braking transistor lets the unit divert surplus kinetic energy into an external resistor, ensuring controlled deceleration without stressing the DC link.
For mains connection, the drive accepts a three-phase supply in the 400 V class and accommodates copper conductors up to 50 mm². It can start and run motors rated at 55 kW, supplying a continuous output of 115 A while the internal IGBT bridge switches at 8 kHz to shape a near-sinusoidal waveform. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, meaning live parts are finger-safe but not sealed against dust. A built-in dynamic brake works with an external braking resistor, and the minimum resistor value is 9 Ω to avoid excessive thermal load. Upstream protection is provided by a 160 A fuse that limits short-circuit energy on the input side.

Steady production draws a line current of 127 A, yet the control section permits a short-time surge of 172.5 A for acceleration or heavy load pickup before reverting to nominal limits. Hardware shutdown is triggered at 207 A, preventing semiconductor damage if a fault persists. Up to 88 A can flow through the braking path, a figure the external resistor must withstand repeatedly. These current margins, together with the prescribed conductor size, set the thermal and electrical limits of the inverter.
