Product Description:
The 17.F4.F1H-3440 is a variable-frequency inverter produced by KEB as part of the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. The unit modulates the voltage and frequency supplied to three-phase induction motors, allowing precise speed control and torque regulation within automated machinery and process lines. It interfaces directly with industrial mains and supports PLC-based motion sequences, forming the link between fixed-frequency power and dynamically commanded motor operation. This arrangement allows one drive package to manage acceleration, steady running, and controlled deceleration without requiring a separate motor starter for normal speed changes.
It is designed for a 3-phase mains supply in the 400 V class, drawing a nominal input current of 46 A. Under steady load, it converts this energy into 29 kVA and supports motors up to 18.5 kW. The power stage delivers 42 A, and its insulated-gate transistors switch at 8 kHz; the higher carrier frequency can reduce audible motor noise while adding heat to the heat sink. Conductors may use a 16 mm² line cross section, and a mains fuse matched to the input current helps limit fault energy. A typical braking resistor of 30 Ω connects to the DC link so regenerated energy from decelerating loads can be absorbed instead of raising bus voltage excessively.
The mechanical envelope measures 297 mm in width, 255 mm in depth, and 340 mm in height, while the assembly weighs 14 kg, which supports cabinet mounting without additional frame reinforcement. Its housing carries an IP20 rating, so live parts are guarded against accidental finger contact while the drive remains suited for ventilated enclosures. For short duty peaks, the output stage can supply 63 A for 30 seconds, and the same current value is the maximum mains fuse rating used for input protection. Internal heat must still be managed by proper enclosure airflow so braking events and heavy load changes do not cause unnecessary thermal stress during operation.
