Product Description:
The 16.F4.F1G-4I30 frequency inverter is produced by KEB within the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. It is installed in automated lines to vary the speed of three-phase motors according to real-time load requirements. By modulating output voltage and frequency, it maintains torque, improves energy use, and removes the need for mechanical throttling devices in pumps, fans, and conveyors. The adjustable output also allows connected machinery to respond to changing process demands without repeatedly starting and stopping the motor across the line.
This model supports motors up to 15 kW, so a single unit can handle medium-sized drive sections without an external step-up transformer. Regulation accuracy is achieved through a field-oriented control algorithm that synchronizes stator current with rotor flux for dynamic torque response at low speeds. The inverter is built in a G-size housing, providing a consistent footprint that aligns with compatible cabinet layouts and heat sink accessories. Its IP20 enclosure rating allows mounting inside a protected control panel where contact with live parts is prevented, but additional protection is needed against dust and moisture. Continuous operation is permitted from -10 to 45 °C, which suits the temperature range of standard electrical rooms without auxiliary chillers. Adequate panel ventilation is still necessary to carry heat away from the inverter during sustained motor operation.
The communications slot is fitted with the Standard communication option, meaning basic hardwired I/O is present and advanced network modules can be added if the installation later uses PROFIBUS or CANopen. An internal braking transistor is integrated, so excess regenerative energy can be dissipated through a connected resistor rather than returned to the supply. This arrangement supports controlled deceleration when a motor or driven load returns energy to the inverter. The control electronics remain stable in atmospheres with up to 95% relative humidity, provided condensation is prevented. This humidity limit permits operation in damp production spaces when the control cabinet prevents moisture from collecting on energized components.
