Product Description:
The 16.F4.F1G-4I00 is an AC motor frequency inverter manufactured by KEB and supplied within the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. Designed for cabinet installation, the unit converts fixed mains input into variable voltage and frequency so that induction or synchronous machines can be driven at the speed required by an automation cycle. By integrating torque-regulating algorithms and energy dissipation hardware into a compact enclosure, it serves conveyors, pumps, and general motion axes that require precise acceleration, controlled braking, and coordinated drive operation.
In normal operation, the inverter applies field-oriented control, which monitors rotor flux and current vectors to keep torque linear even at low speeds. An internal brake transistor routes surplus DC bus energy to an external resistor, so no separate chopper module is required. To supply the drive, the mains conductors must support a line cross section of 10 mm², which suits its nominal input current of 36.5 A. On the output side, the inverter delivers a continuous current of 33 A and an apparent power of 23 kVA, which matches motors up to 15 kW. The housing is rated IP20, providing basic finger protection when the unit is installed inside a closed panel.
Transient events are handled by protective thresholds, because the drive trips at an overcurrent of 59.4 A and can withstand a short-time current of 49.5 A during brief overloads such as rapid acceleration. Dynamic braking capability is limited to a maximum DC link discharge of 30 A; pairing the internal chopper with a typical 42 Ω resistor absorbs routine stops, and a resistor below 25 Ω should not be used to remain within thermal limits. Upstream circuit protection is achieved with a 50 A mains fuse matched to the converter's input rating. Even with these features, panel layout remains manageable because the unit weighs only 10 kg, allowing straightforward mounting beside other F4 series drives.
