The 16.F4.CCH-3280 frequency inverter is produced by KEB within the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. It modulates the voltage and frequency supplied to three-phase induction motors, allowing assembly lines, pumps, and material-handling machines to match motor speed to process demand while reducing unnecessary energy use. By combining drive control and protection in a compact enclosure, the unit fits readily into distributed automation cabinets. It also uses standard control and power wiring, which makes it suitable for conventional industrial panel layouts.
The inverter is designed for a three-phase supply and uses supply voltage class 230 V. Under continuous load, it draws a nominal input current of 73 A and delivers a nominal output current of 66 A to the connected motor. It can support motors up to 15 kW, which suits mid-range conveyors, pumps, and process blowers. The internal IGBT bridge switches at 16 kHz, which helps reduce audible noise and supports smooth current control. Line-side connections require 25 mm² copper conductors, and each terminal is tightened to 1.2 Nm. The chassis uses housing design H and accepts three input phases, while thermal management keeps the heat sink below 90 °C so the power semiconductors remain within an acceptable temperature range. Compliance with EN 61800-3 keeps conducted and radiated emissions within industrial limits.
Mechanical and electrical protection are supported by the IP20 enclosure and by the drive’s internal current supervision. The IP20 housing is intended for installation inside an electrical cabinet, where it helps limit accidental contact with live parts. For transient overloads, the inverter can deliver up to 99 A, but it disconnects at 119 A to protect the power stage from excessive current demand. The upstream mains fuse must not exceed 80 A. Climatic category 3K3 supports installation in ventilated electrical rooms with controlled humidity, which suits typical indoor industrial cabinets.
