Product Description:
The 16.F4.C1H-5004 is an AC frequency inverter produced by KEB for the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. It converts fixed-frequency, three-phase input power into a variable output for induction or permanent-magnet motors used on conveyors, mixers, and process pumps. By adjusting voltage and frequency in real time, the device provides precise speed regulation, reduced mechanical shock during starts and stops, and energy-efficient operation at partial load. Controlled acceleration can reduce sudden tension changes in conveyor belts and limit disturbances in mechanically coupled equipment. Parameter menus, power terminals, and fieldbus ports use a consistent layout throughout the platform, making the controls and connections easy to access.
Its control electronics follow the Compact operating concept, which organizes parameters into fixed menus for straightforward setup and operation. The power stage sits in an H-size housing that provides sufficient heat sink mass and busbar spacing for its 32 A current range. A built-in braking transistor diverts regenerated DC-link energy to an external resistor, helping prevent overvoltage faults during rapid deceleration. The external resistor dissipates this returned energy as heat instead of allowing the DC-link voltage to rise beyond the permitted operating range. A continuous output rating of up to 15 kW supports medium-duty conveyors or centrifugal pumps connected to a 400 V network.
The inverter maintains its rated output within an operating temperature range of -10 to 45 °C, allowing use in many unheated or ventilated industrial cabinets. Its electronics tolerate up to 95% relative humidity without condensation, which helps preserve insulation and circuit reliability in humid locations. Protective covers, adequate creepage distances, and touch-safe terminals provide an IP20 enclosure rating for installation inside a control cabinet. This enclosure prevents accidental finger contact with hazardous internal parts but does not provide protection against water. Cabinet airflow must therefore carry heat away from the housing while the surrounding enclosure protects the inverter from moisture, conductive debris, and other contaminants.
