The 15.F4.C1E-4A01 is a frequency inverter manufactured by KEB for the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. It modulates the voltage and frequency supplied to three-phase motors, allowing speed control, torque optimization, and soft starting in automated production cells, conveying lines, and similar industrial installations. This operating method helps connected motors match process demand more closely during acceleration, steady running, and controlled speed changes. By varying motor speed electronically, the unit can also reduce mechanical shock during startup in applications that do not require fixed-speed operation.
The inverter draws a nominal input of 26.5 A and delivers an output current of 24 A, producing up to 17 kVA of apparent power for machines that require as much as 11 kW of shaft output. Switching devices operate at a rated carrier frequency of 4 kHz, and parameter settings allow the limit to be raised to 12 kHz where lower acoustic noise or smoother torque is needed. A higher carrier frequency can also improve audible smoothness in some motor and load combinations, although it increases switching losses. Internally, power devices dissipate 260 W, so panel ventilation must accommodate that heat. The E-coded housing aligns the frame with other F4 modules, while mains and motor leads connect to spring clamps sized for a 6 mm² conductor cross section and tightened to 1.2 Nm.
Dynamic stopping energy is handled by the built-in brake chopper, which routes excess DC link voltage through an external resistor typically rated at 56 Ω; this path can conduct a peak of 21 A during fast deceleration. The external braking resistor must match the chopper circuit so braking energy can be dissipated outside the inverter housing. Upstream protection is coordinated with a maximum fuse size of 35 A, and the unit has an IP20 enclosure rating. The inverter is intended for installation sites up to 2000 m above sea level because available cooling margin decreases at higher elevations.
