The 15.F4.F1H-3480 frequency inverter is manufactured by KEB within the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. Designed for cabinet installation, the device modulates the voltage and frequency supplied to a three-phase motor so that speed follows process demand instead of the fixed utility frequency. This control method lets the motor respond more closely to changing machine demand than direct line operation. A brake transistor is already integrated, enabling the drive to divert regenerated energy to a braking resistor during fast stops. This allows repeated deceleration events without a separate brake chopper.

The inverter operates in the 400 V voltage class and accepts three-phase mains with a nominal line current of 26.5 A. After conversion, it supplies a rated output current of 24 A to loads up to 17 kVA, which corresponds to a motor rating of 11 kW. Its carrier-based modulation runs at a switching frequency of 16 kHz, reducing audible noise and improving current quality. The control terminal strip provides six programmable digital inputs, allowing the PLC to issue run, jog, or preset-speed commands through direct wiring rather than an additional interface module. This arrangement supports straightforward integration with standard machine control signals.

Circuit protection is arranged with a maximum mains fuse of 35 A, and field wiring uses motor and supply conductors up to 6 mm². The enclosure carries an IP20 protection rating, so it must be installed inside a closed panel. That panel must provide the barrier against accidental contact with live parts and exposure to the surrounding environment. The unit can drive shielded motor cables up to 100 m while maintaining EMC limits, and it remains functional at site altitudes up to 2000 m above sea level. Operation is permitted with relative humidity as high as 95 %, provided condensation is prevented.
