Product Description:
The 13.F4.S1E-3220 is a frequency inverter manufactured by KEB for the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. It belongs to the 230 V voltage class and converts a constant single- or three-phase supply into a regulated three-phase output so that induction motors can accelerate, decelerate, or maintain process speed under closed-loop control. Within industrial automation, it is installed in control cabinets to provide electronic speed variation without mechanical gear changes, improving energy use and reducing drivetrain wear.
The inverter feeds motors up to 5.5 kW while drawing a nominal input current of 26.5 A; this value represents continuous mains loading at full speed. Its nominal output current of 24 A indicates the steady RMS current available to the motor terminals and is coordinated with the thermal limits of standard IEC frames in this power range. Carrier modulation is fixed at 4 kHz, a switching frequency that balances acoustic noise against transistor heating and provides the basis for motor EMI filtering. A line conductor cross-section of 6 mm² is recommended so that the copper conductors remain within the permissible temperature rise at the stated input current.
Short-term load peaks are handled by a maximum current of 36.5 A; beyond this point, the drive triggers an overcurrent shutdown at 43 A to protect its power devices. Dynamic stops are assisted by an integrated brake chopper that can sink up to 21 A through an external resistor network, with a minimum resistance of 39 Ω or a typical resistance of 56 Ω to keep dissipation within safe limits. Installation requires a 35 A fast-acting mains fuse and an enclosure suitable for the drive’s IP20 rating, which provides finger-safe terminals but no protection from water. The unit measures 130 mm wide, 275 mm high, and 290 mm deep, allowing it to fit inside a standard cabinet with a depth of 300 mm while leaving clearance for airflow.
