Product Description:
The 12.F4.D50-4200 is a braking resistor unit manufactured by KEB for the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. It is connected to the DC link of the drive and absorbs regenerated energy during rapid deceleration, protecting the inverter from excessive bus voltage in automated conveyors, hoists, and positioning axes. The device is designed for sub-mounted installation so it can be fixed directly beneath compatible F4 inverter sizes 03, 05, 07, and 10, minimizing panel space while keeping the thermal source separated from sensitive control electronics.
Electrical performance centers on a resistance value of 82 Ω. When connected to the designated brake terminals PA/PB, this value allows braking current to be diverted safely when the chopper transistor closes. Energy handling includes a non-recurring 3-second load capability of 7800 W, allowing the drive to execute emergency or high-inertia stops without excessive bus voltage rise. For shorter cyclic braking profiles, the resistor sustains a permissible load of 700 W at 5% duty, while continuous dynamic regulation relies on its permanent dissipation rating of 35 W. An internal temperature switch is fitted and routed to terminals OH/OH; if the film temperature rises beyond the preset limit, this contact can signal the inverter to inhibit further braking pulses and help prevent thermal damage.
The mechanical envelope is optimized for cabinet layouts. The width is 90 mm, the length is 250 mm, and the overall height is 30 mm. These dimensions match the D-style housing and leave clearance for airflow along the fins when the unit is sub-mounted. Despite its steel casing, the mass is only 0.9 kg, which supports straightforward handling during installation or service. The compact footprint and included mounting slots simplify attachment to prefabricated backplanes while maintaining the creepage distances required for inverter field wiring.
