Product Description:
The 12.F4.F1E-3480 is an AC frequency inverter manufactured by KEB within the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. Designed for cabinet installation on production lines, this COMBIVERT F4 device provides variable-speed control for 400 V-class induction motors using field-oriented algorithms. By modulating output frequency and voltage, it lets automation systems match motor speed to real-time process demands while maintaining torque accuracy. It interfaces with a three-phase mains supply and supports braking resistors for controlled deceleration in conveyors, pumps, and general material-handling applications.
The power section accepts a three-phase input across the 305–500 V range and draws a nominal line current of 10.5 A at 400 V. Inside the E-size housing, IGBT switching operates at a rated carrier frequency of 16 kHz to deliver an output of 9.5 A of continuous current and 6.6 kVA of apparent power to the motor terminals. When the connected machine demands additional torque, the inverter can supply a motor with a rating of up to 4 kW without derating, and an overcurrent trip set at 20.9 A protects the system during short current surges. Field-oriented control maintains vector accuracy across the entire voltage range, while the integrated braking transistor routes excess energy to an external resistor.
The drive carries an IP20 protection rating for installation in standard cabinet environments. It dissipates 180 W of switching losses through a heat sink that may reach 73 °C under full load. A short-term overload current of 17.1 A is available for acceleration cycles, after which the current returns to its nominal level to limit thermal stress. Installation requires 2.5 mm² supply conductors and a 20 A mains fuse for circuit protection. Continuous service is permitted at ambient temperatures from -10 to 45 °C with up to 95% noncondensing humidity. A braking resistor with a minimum resistance of 50 Ω is required for dynamic stopping.
