Product Description:
The 10.F4.S3D-1220 is a frequency inverter produced by KEB within the F4 Combivert Frequency Inverters series. It converts fixed mains power into a variable output that allows asynchronous or synchronous motors to run at commanded speed and torque, which is useful in conveyors, small pumps, and positioning axes. Designed for networks in the 230 V supply class, the unit includes a braking transistor so regenerated energy can be dissipated through an external resistor instead of feeding back to the line.
The inverter accepts a single-phase input and routes power through an installed RFI filter to limit conducted emissions. Its power section can deliver a continuous 4 kVA of apparent power and an output nominal current of 10 A, while motor frequency is modulated by an IGBT bridge that switches at 4 kHz. A motor rating of 2.2 kW suits light-duty drive applications, and a 4.0 mm² line cross section is specified for the incoming conductors to limit copper losses and temperature rise. The braking stage is coordinated with a 25 A maximum mains fuse, and internal overcurrent protection trips at 22 A during severe load faults.
On the input side, the converter draws a nominal current of 20 A. On the motor side, it can tolerate transient demands up to 18 A for short acceleration bursts before thermal models reduce torque. Internal dissipation is limited to 135 W, enabling normal operation without external cooling as long as the heat sink temperature stays below 85 °C, and the control board initiates a trip if case temperature approaches that limit. Current monitoring complements these thermal safeguards during overload conditions. The housing is rated IP20, making it suitable for installation in closed switch cabinets where protection against dust and accidental contact is required, but exposure to moisture is not.
